Dead Bettery Problem

Postby Instant Integral » Thu 07 October 2010 / 04:52 am

I bought 5 of The Impossible Project Spectra edgecut packs and so far 3 of the packs have had dead batteries. I can barely take 1 photo from each pack and then its dead and I have to take the pictures out and put them in a pack with a better battery. I have bought many other packs of film thats older and the batteries have lasted for along time.

Has this happened to anyone else? I also have had this happen with one of the Silver shade v06.

We recently talked here on that matter, it seems that as the Image/Spectra cameras are more "energy intensive" machines, and that the batteries you can find in spectra films may sometimes die before the end of th pack.

you'll have to google translate it, the topic is HERE.

Some of us didn't have any problems, some did, it's really a random problem though recurring. Using flash, focus and/or some other possibilities offered by the camera may cause that problem.

We called it here the damnation of Spectra

The fact you had also that problem with new Silver shade films is that Impossible is using old Polaroid batteries they have got back from them.

They announced that the next generations of films would be sold with new batteries with increased power, as well as with a recycling programme for those batteries.

Wow I didn't think it was this widespread. I kinda figured the Spectra's needed more juice for all the extra options it has. I was very pleased to hear about the new batteries last week because I don't like the fact that TIP used old batteries, thought I know they probably had to for awhile.

I find that AF on my SX70 model 2 drained px600/70 batteries really quick! I hope the new batteries are alot more powerful like they say. It will be nice to have brand new film soon!

You damn right, I think old polaroid batteries have come to their very end, and can hardly bear sonars and other options from the spectra cameras.
So now it's time for a change, and what IP announced was very clear nex and powerful batteries for nex and reliable films !

So pal, wait'n see... :hehe:

All the new impossible films are now delivered with a black battery, stamped with an Impossible logo, and those are very powerful.

They are also setting up a replacement program for batteries so that they can recycle the energy when your pack is done. It will be announced in a few days ;)

Since my Image System has been "cursed", I might wait that someone who bought some of those new packs can give me, after use, one of those batteries so that I can replace the original ones in my Image packs.

I was told by an Impossible person that they are gonna use the old stock of Polaroid Batteries before they use the new ones. I think that its bad since the old Polaroid ones are dying! Every time I buy a new pack of PZ film I have to take the picture out and put them in a pack with a fresher battery.

As it was said in this topic by Swkitt, we've heard here in the forum that Impossible had started to replace old Polaroid batteries by new ones, that will last longer and that can be recycled :
