POLAROID SLR680 - WORKS WONDERFULLY - US$300 OR BEST OFFER
For sale is a rare, vintage, fully tested and working Polaroid SLR680 (one of the finest and most sought-after cameras ever produced by Polaroid).
As you will see from the photographs, in terms of aesthetics it is in used but decent condition, however, it works very well.
There are a few scratches and marks on the covering.
The body itself is in good condition and shows only minor signs of wear. No significant scratches are apparent, but have a close look at the photographs and you may see slight what I consider to be slight discolorations.
The lens is perfect, flawless, with no scratches, marks, discolorations, blemishes, dust, haze or mold of any kind inside or outside.
The bellows are supple and light-tight.
The autofocus mechanism and the flash both work flawlessly.
The rollers are clean and function well. I have noticed that with older films the chemicals do not always distribute evenly, however, with newer films the chemicals do distribute evenly. For this reason I do not believe that there are any issues with the rollers, instead I think it is simply an issue with the use of older films. Also, uneven chemical distribution is a very common issue when using older films.
I shoot with the camera somewhat often, and in this case, because it worked so well, I chose not to refurbish it and to leave it in its original condition. A sample photograph taken with this camera is included with the photographs.
This is a very highly desirable camera, arguably the best that Polaroid ever produced. It is in great demand.
As I’m sure you all know, film is available through The Impossible Project (https://shop.the-impossible-project.com/shop/film/600), through Mint (http://www.sx70asia.com/en/), through various Impossible partner shops throughout Europe, or through eBay, Etsy, Amazon, and other online sources.
A bit about me, I am a professional photographer and an avid Polaroid enthusiast (I just joined the forum but have been following on Facebook for quite some time). I own at least a dozen Polaroid cameras and shoot with them often. I almost don’t want to sell this camera, but I have another SLR680 and so the camera for sale here really doesn’t fit in my collection, and I think it should be owned by someone who will love it and use it more often than I do.
Again, it is tested and it works well, so you can begin shooting right away, or, if you prefer, you can make it a project camera and have it refurbished and recovered to suit your personal tastes.
For those who are not familiar with Polaroid cameras, please understand that they are vintage, analog cameras, and even when using brand new Impossible Project film, results may be inconsistent. They will become more consistent as you become more familiar with the camera and the film, and how light and temperature impact image outcome. But, this inconsistent nature is also the beauty of shooting with Polaroid cameras. You can also explore emulsion lifting, film manipulation, and other alternative techniques. It’s really all very wonderful and fun.
I am asking US$300 for this camera. This may seem high to some, but it is competitive with similar cameras, and I will consider all reasonable offers even if they do not match this price.
Please note that this price does not include shipping. I will quote a shipping price based on the location of the buyer. I am based in the US, in New York.
I accept PayPal only. I ship within one business day after receipt of payment by PayPal.
Please do feel free to ask any questions at all, I’ll be more than happy to answer them.
Additional photographs are available on request. And please forgive me if I have uploaded the images incorrectly, I am new to uploading images in this way. If anyone who is interested in this camera would like me to, I would be happy to send large format images directly.
Thank you very much for looking, have a wonderful day, and if you choose to make an offer, thank you in advance!!
